Crayola Easy Animator App Reviews

Garbage!

This app (and toy) is utter garbage. Should have done research, and not fallen for an impulse buy for Christmas. The entire point of this app (and toy) is that you can pose the dummy, then scan with the app to generate animations. But it DOES NOT WORK! The app can correctly recognize limb orientation at first, with the dummy standing erect, arms and legs straight down. But thats about it. It doesnt track properly when you move the dummy. We tried very slow, gradual movements. Very slight orientation changes. Ensured we did not obscure the recognition symbols in any way. The arms and legs would randomly twist and end up in completely incorrect positions. It looked like the guy fell off a building or was in a car wreck. Crayola should hang their head in shame. Its going back. Dont buy, dont try. Garbage!

Needs MAJOR Updates

We got this for Christmas and she loved it, until we tried to get the app to do all it said it would. It doesnt recognize the mannequin, no matter how far or close, or lighting. Even when she uses the standard movements to make a movie, the app crashes after all her hard work right when she gets to the save button. Needs some updates!! Sad because kids wont have the patience to wait for them. Should have been tested better before rollout!!

LOVE...BUT

I really like this app & kit thing, its very fun, me & my bro love to make movies & other cool stuff with it, we got it for Christmas and ever since I have been doin stuff with it a lot. I have noticed a few things though about it though. Like how There arent many characters to use or design & its hard to scan/unlock. Im still giving it 5 stars for a job well done but itd be nice if those things were fixed. Im also recommending for all ya peeps on the App Store!

To all bad reviewers...

The option To scan your own creation does not work until you complete the tutorial! This app rocks !! My kids LOVE making movies. Thank you crayola!

Worst app Ive ever touched. Dont buy the toy!

The idea is amazing. The execution is below crap. Worst app I ever put my hands on. To scan the image like you need, just praying for a miracle. But problems are more basic than that: . No back button. You have to close and re-open the app . Scroll doesnt work. From the 20 characters that you have on the book - and that your kid colored - you can only play with the first 3, once you can scroll the screen to access the others And goes one and one with problems like that. Kind of unbeliever that a professional designed that.

DO NOT BUY!!!!!

I cant believe I spent $25 on this stupid toy it is extraordinarily terrible anyone ever Buys this return it immediately!!!!!I barely was able to scan my character and then none of the actions worked even the one where you can create your own actions!!!!! DO NOT BUY!!!!!

DONT BUY

I thought I was going to be able to at least make a cute little bear wave to me, but I guess this app isnt capable of such simple movements. I know it needs to be scanned right, but I have my iPad mini positioned right. I want to get an update now or else Im going to just not bother. Thank you for letting me waste money on a toy that looked fun in the commercial, but that is not like it at all...

Its not bad

Please ignore the negative reviews of people complaining about crashing while using outdated tech. The app works fine on a new iPad Air.

Color alive

Its garbage. The app does not work on any device. Made my sons day terrible!! Would not recommend it even if it was free.

my son was very DISAPPOINTED

Drawings scanned in ok. doesnt pick up details like eyes. Animation stinks which is what this product is supposed to do. I wouldnt recommend.

Incredible!

Works exactly as advertised. My 6 year old was creating videos and custom animations in minutes. Its a mind-blowingly easy interface.

Does what it says

We got this for Easter. I was a little worried after reading the reviews, but it does everything it says to. Im not sure where people are having problems. First we colored a picture on paper and took a picture with the iPad to scan it in. Then we used the crayola model mannequin that came in the box. You pose it then take a picture, then move it a little and take another picture--classic stop motion animation. We did 5 poses and it was only a 2 second video. We added dialogue. I think its good. I would recommend this.

This works with exceptions

The Crayola Easy Animator does work. We scanned the drawing my grandson colored, selected as well as created a background and then took individual photos of each model pose. Animation is a frame by frame process so you cannot create moves by continuously moving the model as if its being videotaped. That said, after creating 30 individual frames, we selected the animation moves at the bottom of the screen. After that, it created a great animated clip. Where this product falls short is when you purchase the Avengers coloring book. It does not react to the camera scan which I believe is due to the difference in the background design behind the coloring book characters. The book that came with the manny model has a web-like background where the Avengers book I just ordered has artistic backgrounds which, I believe, the app does not recognize, thus, no scan button is activated on the device. Ive looked to see if the Avengers book has its own app.
